Its a Beatles kind of Sunday

God bless my parents for bringing me up in a household full of incredible music. Some of the first songs I learned as a child were from the Beatles. I remember even as a kid loving the album art and movie for Yellow Submarine, Revlover and St. Pepper, and still reference them today in my work. One summer my brother and I even memorized all the dialogue in the movie HELP! Thanks mom and dad for the inspiration...Its feeling lke a Beatles kind of morning....

Bon Iver - "Holocene"

I am flying over America as I write this, off to another photo shoot, this time in my hometown of Los Angeles.  Its a bit stuffy in here, with little kids kicking the back of my seat, cranky passengers, and recycled air....But outside, you can see for miles and miles and its beautiful.

Here's an amazing new video from Bon Iver for the song "Holocene".... I wish I was cruising around Iceland right now with this kid and his albatross..

Bjork + Michel Gondry - "Crystalline"

Back in college I was a HUGE fan of Bjork, listening to her on repeat in my photo darkroom working on my little art school projects. Now she's teamed up with the awesomely weird and creative mind of director Michel Gondry to create the music video for "Crystalline" from her upcoming album Biophillia due out September 27.

A really great shot documentary piece by Mother NY about the remaining mural painters of New York City. As they loose out to billboard companies posting cheaper, mass produced printed or vinyl posters, the muralists of New York are still hanging on to this incredible tradition of hand painted signs, literally.

Ryohei Yanagihara is Awesome

Japanese illustrator Ryohei Yanagihara is best know for his work with the shipping company Mitsui OS Lines, for creating Suntory whiskey's cartoon ambassador Uncle Torys in 1958, and basically being a godfather of modern Japanese animation.  He's so awesome he even has his own museum dedicated to his MOS illustrations.
